Why Dealer Positioning Matters

When you buy or sell an option, a market maker takes the other side. To stay delta-neutral, dealers hedge by buying or selling the underlying. In positive gamma regimes, dealer hedging stabilizes price — they sell into rallies and buy dips, suppressing volatility. In negative gamma regimes, dealers chase price in both directions, amplifying moves and creating trends. Knowing where dealers are positioned tells you whether the tape will pin, trend, or break. Delta Edge makes this positioning visible in real time.
